From August 4 to 24, 2026, Ms. Aishath Jazly from Maldives attended the Seminar for Maldives Local Officials hosted by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO). At the closing of the seminar, she authored the English poem A Piece of China in My Heart, drawing on the shared experiences and observations of all Maldivian participants in China.
Through imagery of mountains, streets, cuisine and city nightscapes, the poem captures the charm of Beijing, Qingdao and Changchun. It depicts a vibrant portrait of contemporary China where tradition and modernity coexist, conveying sincere admiration for China’s history, culture and modern development, as well as deep affection for the country. It vividly reflects the profound friendship between the Chinese and Maldivian peoples. The original poem is as follows:

China, where kind hearts softly shine,
And ancient stories through the ages remain.
Where mountains rise and oceans meet,
And wisdom walks through every street.
A language rich, with timeless grace,
A beautiful soul in every place.
With flavours, aromas, and food so divine,
A feast of culture in every bite and every line.
Where history lives, yet dreams move on,
And yesterday meets tomorrow’s dawn.
Beijing, Qingdao, Changchun at night,
Glowing beneath a sea of light.
A journey that touched more than my eyes
It left a quiet warmth within my heart,
